Stamm Rezept is a recipe keeper for your own kitchen: it stores the recipes you save, the photos you add, your weekly meal plans and the cookbook you lay out. This page says plainly what the app keeps, where it is kept, and how you get rid of it. There are no advertisements, no analytics trackers and no selling of data — the app is paid for once, in the app store, and that is the whole business model.
What the app stores
- Your account: your email address and a scrambled (hashed) form of your password — never the password itself. If you turn on two-factor sign-in, the secret for it is stored encrypted, together with your recovery codes in hashed form.
- Your recipes: titles, ingredients, steps, notes, tags, serving counts, the web address a recipe was saved from, and the photos you take or choose. Photos are stored in up to three sizes (for the phone, a thumbnail, and a print copy for the cookbook).
- Your planner: which recipes you put on which day and meal, your meal names and times, and the items you tick off the shopping list.
- Your cookbook: the book's settings and text (title, dedication, your family story), the photos you place in it, and the PDF files the app builds for you.
- Technical records: the server keeps short-lived logs of requests (date, time, the address they came from, which part of the app was used) for keeping the service running and spotting abuse. Sign-in attempts are counted for a few minutes to slow down password guessing.
What the app does not do
- It does not show ads or use analytics or tracking tools, and it does not share or sell your data to anyone.
- It does not read your contacts, location, calendar or other apps.
- It only touches the camera and photo library when you tap a button to add a photo, and only uses the photos you pick.
- Reminders are scheduled on your phone itself; they never leave it.
Where it is kept, and who can see it
Everything is stored on a server run by Morena Stamm and hosted by DigitalOcean (data centre in Toronto, Canada). Connections between the app and the server are encrypted (HTTPS). The only other company involved is Resend, which delivers the account emails (sign-up codes, password resets) and therefore sees your email address and those messages. Nobody else receives your data.
When you save a recipe from a link, the server fetches that public web page on your behalf, the way a browser would, to read the recipe off it. The page's owner sees a request from the server, not from your phone.
Your recipes are yours. Morena Stamm can technically access the database to keep the service running and to help you if you write for support, and does not look at anyone's recipes otherwise. Photos are kept under long random file names rather than behind a sign-in, so the app and your cookbook can load them quickly; a photo's address is only ever known to your own app.
Emails you may get
Only the ones the app needs: a code when you sign up, a code when you ask to reset your password, and a code when you change your email address. No newsletters, no marketing.
Your choices
- See and change your data: everything is editable inside the app — recipes, photos, plans, the book, your email and password.
- Take it with you: the cookbook PDFs are yours to download. If you want a copy of your recipes in another form, write to support and you will get them.
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, every recipe, photo, plan, book and PDF, straight away. Encrypted backup copies of the server are kept for up to 14 days for disaster recovery and are then gone too.
Children
Stamm Rezept is meant for adults running a household. It is not directed at children under 13, and no accounts are knowingly kept for them; if you believe a child has made one, write to support and it will be removed.
The law
Morena Stamm is in Alberta, Canada, and handles personal information under Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and the provincial law that applies. If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the rights to access, correct, export and erase your data described above, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Data is stored in Canada.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you the next time you open it. Questions, requests and complaints go to author@morenastamm.ca.
